Our vision is to support the achievement of an environmentally, economically and socially sustainable energy system in Germany, Europe and the World.

Our research mission is to develop scientifically sound methods and provide insights that enable improved and well-informed decision-making for the design and operation of future energy systems and sustainable energy policy. In doing so, we strive for scientific excellence and policy relevance.

In teaching, we pursue the mission of educating our future decision-makers to shape the energy transition.
On the one hand, we provide our students with the fundamentals of sustainable energy conversion systems and energy economics, as well as solid methodological knowledge.
On the other hand, in application-oriented courses we promote independent, scientific work using the methods of inquiry-based learning.
